Superior summer sleep.

Staying warm in bed in winter is one thing but being able to sleep through the summer heat is a challenge! The optimal temperature for good rest is 15-19 Degrees and on some hot nights it can be as warm as 35 Degrees, resulting you probably not being able to sleep at all. Air conditioners are great at cooling down your bedroom, but running them all night is costly, and can irritate your respiratory system.

We’re here to help you beat the heat with pro tips and our choice of the best products for summer sleep.

Cool, crisp, breathable bedding.

Switching to breathable bedding in summer makes a huge difference in sleep comfort. Cooler bedding reduces disruptions from overheating, allowing you to fall into a deeper, more restful sleep.

Natural fibres are naturally light and breathable like cotton, linen, or bamboo for your sheets. These materials wick away moisture and allow air to flow, keeping you cooler.

Cool to the touch.

What's best for warm weather nights is as much in the type of fibre used to make a bedding fabric as it is in the way the fabric feels. Percale weaves are far more "cool and dry" to the touch, with their open breathable weave than the sateen alternative. Smooth fabric is far more summery feeling than a textured or brushed finish, but stick to lower thread counts like 200 or 400, as the higher the tread count the weightier the fabric.

Lighter layers for warmer weather

Summer-friendly duvet inners.

Switch to a summer weight duvet or ditch the duvet entirely for a lightweight blanket and cotton flat sheet. Down and feather duvets are alot lighter than some fibre alternatives especially when designed for hotter climates. If you use a cieling or standing fan at night this might be a comfortable option. Natural fill duvets are also more breathable and temperature regulating than some fibre fill inners, meaning they are less insulating, but still provide a good, comfortable drape.

Some down alternative options can be ideal for summer as they mimic the softness of down without the weight and insulation.

Four Season or All Season duvets are the perfect compromise for year-round comfort, designed as 2 duvets that you clip or unclip depending on your cosy comfort preference. One duvet is a super light summer weight whilst the other is an autumn or spring weight for using inbetween seasons.

Granny Goose Four Seasons Duvets

Perfect pillows for warm weather rest.

Whilst whilst down and feather pillows are an incredible way to support your head and neck position, they are very malleable meaning they form around your body. Foam and firmer fill pillows are often better choices for summer.

Foam and memory foam pillows take longer to heat up and offer superior heat dissipation and more of your head and neck are exposed to the surrounding air.

More ways to keep your cool.

  • Invest in thick block-out curtains for your bedroom windows, this is particularly effective in keeping the cool overnight air in during warmer days. Open up your windows before bed to cool down the room and in the morning pull the drapes to lock the cool air in.

  • A dehumidifier can make it feel less "clammy" by drawing moisture out of the air. Run yours a couple of hours before bedtime and if low level white noise doesn't bother you, keep it on at night to reduce humidity.

  • Run a quiet floor fan in such a way that it sucks the warmer air out of your room or pulls cooler air into the space by placing it in front of an open window.

  • Pure cotton pajamas pair with your all-natural bedding will help the over all breathability of your sleeping environment.
